My name is Stacey Brown and it is my pleasure to welcome you to the wonderful world of webquests. Throughout this workshop series we will explore the way webquests can be used to increase student engagement. During our time together we are going to focus on the following:
  • Building a website to support a webquest;
  • Creating measurable learning objectives aligned to current state and national standards;
  • Using primary and secondary source documents to increase student understanding of the content;
  • Developing activities to gauge student understanding; and
  • Creating a culminating activity that gives students an opportunity to use their knowledge to solve a real-world problem.

As an instructional lead teacher for Suitland High School, I have had the opportunity to help teachers increase the use of technology in their classrooms by providing professional development opportunities that show teachers how to effectively use technology in their classrooms. Much of my training has been the result of a combination of my studies in the Instructional Technology program at the University of Maryland – University College and a bit of trial and error.

I trust that this will be a rewarding, learning experience for all of us and I look forward to working with you on this journey as we work to increase student engagement.
